Ashtanga Yoga is the system of yoga preserved and transmitted by its great exponent, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. It is designed to purify the body and still the mind. The practice is characterized by Vinyasa, the precise coordination of movement with breath from posture to posture.
New Morning Class Hours
Monday-Thursday morning class has been expanded to 6:00-10:00am! Please note that the last possible start time is 8:45am; no one will be permitted to start practice after that time. See Class Schedule.
New One-Hour Class Starting April 16
"Light Practice" from 11:00am-12:00pm, Monday through Friday.
The class will cover the Primary series standing postures and an abbreviated closing, followed by shavasana (relaxation). It is open to beginners as well as experienced practitioners who cannot attend morning or evening practice. Pre-registration required click here to register. (Payment by cash or check at the school also accepted.) Anybody may attend on a drop-in basis for the drop-in fee of $15.
New Led Primary Series Classes
Friday evening practice on the last Friday of every month is now led Primary series from 5:30-7:00pm rather than Mysore-style class.
Sunday practice on the first Sunday of every month is now led Primary series from 7:30-9:00am rather than Mysore-style class, followed by a talk/discussion and chai.
Friday morning led class remains from 6:30-8:00am. All morning students should attend.
* When there's a Friday moonday, the preceding practice day reverts to a "Friday" schedule.
