"Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind." (Yoga Sutras 1.2)
Ashtanga Yoga is the system of yoga taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. It is designed to purify the body and still the mind. The practice is characterized by Vinyasa, the precise coordination of movement with breath from posture to posture.
We are pleased to welcome Monica Marinoni of Ashtanga Yoga Auroville (India) as a guest teacher for June and July. Monica will be substituting for George and Jean while they are in India.
Monica brings extraordinary warmth and energy, along with a deep dedication to the Ashtanga yoga tradition, to her teaching. She is a co-founder of Ashtanga Yoga Auroville, where in addition to teaching daily Mysore-style practice to teenagers and adults, she offers chanting classes based on Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
Monica has received Sri K. Pattabhi Jois' and Sri R. Sharath's blessings and authorization to teach Ashtanga yoga. She strives to share the teachings as she has been taught by them.
