If you are new to Ashtanga yoga, it is recommended to come watch a class first. Seeing the practice up close usually answers a lot of questions. There is no charge to observe, and you may stay for all or part of class. After that, it is recommended to sign up for a month of practice. Generally, a month of regular practice is what's needed to begin to see its effects.

You should try to come and practice every day, right from the start. Establishing your practice as a daily (or near-daily) routine is the best way to learn it.

You will probably start out with a short practice (15-20 minutes) which will quickly get longer as you are given new postures.

When you first come in to the practice room, there are some helpful yoga practice guidelines to keep in mind.

You may notice that the room is kept warm (though not overly hot), and that students practice close together. You may sweat a lot. This is desirable. The heat, energy and concentration that build up in the room during class time provide the optimal conditions for practice.
